The Language of Play - Kids that Listen, Speech Therapy, Language Development, Early Intervention
*** A Top 1.5% Podcast! *** Getting Kids to Listen, Speech Therapy, IEP, Communication with Kids, Parent Mentor, Family Connection Are you tired of repeating yourself with your children or wonder why they don’t listen? Are you afraid you are doing the wrong thing to help your kids communicate, but you are unsure what to do? Are you frustrated that your kids argue, whine or debate with you? Hey parents, you don’t need to stay overwhelmed, exhausted, and triggered by the fuss. In this podcast, you will find solutions to … get kids to listen better, build strong communication - even in the presence of a speech delay, and have boundaries that benefit kids. All while enhancing your relationships! My mission is to help puzzled, busy, worried parents read their child’s behavior as communication. When we understand what they are communicating, WE start to communicate differently! This is true of children with typical development, children in dual language homes, and children with delays. When Your Language allows for discovery, creativity, curiosity and exploration, connection is born. Connected kids are courageous and listen better. Connected kids have fewer meltdowns. Listen in to learn empowering strategies for teaching and listening! Hello, my name is Dinalynn Rosenbush, mom, grandma, Speech Language Pathologist of over 30 years. I’ve worked with hundreds of children with speech & language delays and navigated single parenthood. Through training and my own struggles, I learned to use specific language in specific ways that build connection. Our communication is not only our words, but it is the feeling our children have when we speak with them. Let’s create a home where exploration is welcomed, mistakes are stepping stones, and practice is expected. When kids believe you are on their team, eventually, they join your team! Because, what works for speech and language disabled children, simply works! I believe all parents should have access to these skills, not just specialists. It is my hope to give small nuggets of information in each episode to build your communication toolbox. So, if you are ready to build deep, meaningful connection AND create a more peaceful, productive and happy home. Listen in! Let’s interrupt the way you have been parenting. so that you CAN BECOME THE PARENT you WANT to be. I am glad you are here! Hello Parents!
The R sound is one of the most common reasons a child comes to speech therapy in the schools. Speech Pathologists have lots of ways to help, and still some kids continue to struggle. However, there are somethings you can do at home to increase the likelihood your kiddo won’t struggle with R.
So - if you have every wondered what you can do to help your child at home with R this episode is for you! Today, I give you strategies that help for older kids with sound errors as well as the toddler that hasn’t been expected to say the R sound yet. So come along for some well-rounded advice in sound development.
The strategies in this episode are classified as "Auditory Bombardment," which means, these are ways to bombard your child's brain and ears with the correct pronunciation of R. These strategies work at the speed of home-life and can be integrated easily into what you are already doing!
All the best to you!!
Sincerely,
Dinalynn Rosenbush

Hello Friends,
Today we celebrate 50 Episodes!
And, we continue the conversation from last time. Your child - No Doubt - does things that make NO SENSE to you!~ We are left scratching our heads in wonder or leaving you in a state of frustration! We ask "Why did you do that!?" half meaning "stop it!" and half authentically inquiring. Last time, we considered the power of the authentic, curious inquiry. Today, we discuss the detrimental power of using that question as a statement of correction, blame, sarcasm, or shame. Most of us experienced some of this as we grew up. We will discuss the outcomes and how you can identify and make empowering choices for yourself and your family.
Are we creating confusion when “Why did you do that?” is not actually a question?
Cheering you on!
