The Language of Play - Kids that Listen, Speech Therapy, Language Development, Early Intervention

*** A Top 1.5% Podcast! *** Getting Kids to Listen, Speech Therapy, IEP, Communication with Kids, Parent Mentor, Family Connection Are you tired of repeating yourself with your children or wonder why they don’t listen? Are you afraid you are doing the wrong thing to help your kids communicate, but you are unsure what to do? Are you frustrated that your kids argue, whine or debate with you? Hey parents, you don’t need to stay overwhelmed, exhausted, and triggered by the fuss. In this podcast, you will find solutions to … get kids to listen better, build strong communication - even in the presence of a speech delay, and have boundaries that benefit kids. All while enhancing your relationships! My mission is to help puzzled, busy, worried parents read their child’s behavior as communication. When we understand what they are communicating, WE start to communicate differently! This is true of children with typical development, children in dual language homes, and children with delays. When Your Language allows for discovery, creativity, curiosity and exploration, connection is born. Connected kids are courageous and listen better. Connected kids have fewer meltdowns. Listen in to learn empowering strategies for teaching and listening! Hello, my name is Dinalynn Rosenbush, mom, grandma, Speech Language Pathologist of over 30 years. I’ve worked with hundreds of children with speech & language delays and navigated single parenthood. Through training and my own struggles, I learned to use specific language in specific ways that build connection. Our communication is not only our words, but it is the feeling our children have when we speak with them. Let’s create a home where exploration is welcomed, mistakes are stepping stones, and practice is expected. When kids believe you are on their team, eventually, they join your team! Because, what works for speech and language disabled children, simply works! I believe all parents should have access to these skills, not just specialists. It is my hope to give small nuggets of information in each episode to build your communication toolbox. So, if you are ready to build deep, meaningful connection AND create a more peaceful, productive and happy home. Listen in! Let’s interrupt the way you have been parenting. so that you CAN BECOME THE PARENT you WANT to be. I am glad you are here! Hey Friends, Does your child use non-specific words like "Can I have it?"  or "It goes in there."  or other expressions that require you to see their hand movements or know the context they are talking about in order to respond?  It is important for our kids to know and use the right vocabulary as much as possible.
Today, we talk about how to give your kiddo more specific vocabulary so that you are not guessing!  Enjoy!

Hey Friends,
What Is The Motive Behind Your Child's Behavior?  Sometimes what our kids do is weird! It makes no sense!  This is true when we look through our logical, adult brain!  The problem is that part of our kid's brains is not firing the same way as yours is!  Therefore, you think differently!  Thank God, our kids have parents!
Today's episode is based on a conversation with a friend as we reminisced what we learned - and what we understood - when our kids were young.  Distilled down, today's topic is what I think was the biggest game-changer for ME in my parenting.  I hope this blesses you!

Hey Friends, When life doesn't go as you expect it to go, How do you talk to yourself?  What are those words you say to yourself about yourself?  Does it get worse when you are disappointed with yourself or when the situations do not go as you want it to go?  Sometimes this occurs with our children, certainly.  But sometimes... it is just US, with ourselves, by ourselves.
So come along!   The way we talk to ourselves impacts how our children talk to themselves. The healthier we are, then healthier they will be in their bumps. As they see how we handle our bumps in a health-full way, they learn to handle their bumps!

Hey Friends,
Do you ever wish that you could Re-Parent yourself?  Well, you can it’s true.
Many people come to adulthood and have some baggage from their upbringing. In fact, most everybody has some kind of experience that they brought with them to adulthood. Those traumatic or even "normal" experiences are not helping them be the best parent they want to be, nor it is helping them be the best human they want to be. Something lingers... even after you try to forget, forgive, and know it is done.
I want you to know that: You can speak to that part of you that is still small, still young, and still growing.  You can be the parent to yourself so you get what the little you needed.

Hey Friends ~Have you ever wanted to be able to teach behavior and language in a way that is "Just Fun" ~ in a way that is easy and you can apply it to your every day life, too?   We often remember what language and behavior we want to teach - when the behavior is been bad or when the language isn’t working.
Today we’re going to take out a common game, Chutes and Ladders. I’d like to walk you through a way to utilize that game to be able to teach your kiddos about behavior and practice language in joy and peace.   Because really, we’re just playing a game, and the characters are the people in the game. It’s not about US in that moment, so your heart is calm and so is your child's.  And, we know... a calm  mind and brain can learn!
