I’ve worked with hundreds of children with speech & language delays and navigated single parenthood. Through training and my own struggles, I learned to use specific language in specific ways that build connection. Our communication is not only our words, but it is the feeling our children have when we speak with them. Let’s create a home where exploration is welcomed, mistakes are stepping stones, and practice is expected. When kids believe you are on their team, eventually, they join your team! Because, what works for speech and language disabled children, simply works! I believe all parents should have access to these skills, not just specialists. How do you listen to what your child is NOT saying? The tantrums give us something to listen to! But that is NOT what WE want! Is there a way to look at that tantrum or frustration and SEE what your child's body is saying?
