The Language of Play - Kids that Listen, Speech Therapy, Language Development, Early Intervention
*** A Top 1.5% Podcast! *** Getting Kids to Listen, Speech Therapy, IEP, Communication with Kids, Parent Mentor, Family Connection Are you tired of repeating yourself with your children or wonder why they don’t listen? Are you afraid you are doing the wrong thing to help your kids communicate, but you are unsure what to do? Are you frustrated that your kids argue, whine or debate with you? Hey parents, you don’t need to stay overwhelmed, exhausted, and triggered by the fuss. In this podcast, you will find solutions to … get kids to listen better, build strong communication - even in the presence of a speech delay, and have boundaries that benefit kids. All while enhancing your relationships! My mission is to help puzzled, busy, worried parents read their child’s behavior as communication. When we understand what they are communicating, WE start to communicate differently! This is true of children with typical development, children in dual language homes, and children with delays. When Your Language allows for discovery, creativity, curiosity and exploration, connection is born. Connected kids are courageous and listen better. Connected kids have fewer meltdowns. Listen in to learn empowering strategies for teaching and listening! Hello, my name is Dinalynn Rosenbush, mom, grandma, Speech Language Pathologist of over 30 years. I’ve worked with hundreds of children with speech & language delays and navigated single parenthood. Through training and my own struggles, I learned to use specific language in specific ways that build connection. Our communication is not only our words, but it is the feeling our children have when we speak with them. Let’s create a home where exploration is welcomed, mistakes are stepping stones, and practice is expected. When kids believe you are on their team, eventually, they join your team! Because, what works for speech and language disabled children, simply works! I believe all parents should have access to these skills, not just specialists. It is my hope to give small nuggets of information in each episode to build your communication toolbox. So, if you are ready to build deep, meaningful connection AND create a more peaceful, productive and happy home. Listen in! Let’s interrupt the way you have been parenting. so that you CAN BECOME THE PARENT you WANT to be. I am glad you are here! Hey Parents! I feel you! You want to allow your child to just be a child. I know. But sometimes, the Wild, Goofy Play erupts and can be annoying because you want to go somewhere or do something, often non-sensical behavior happens at bedtime!
What causes our children to collapse into a laughing ball of uncontrolled non-sense? Do you allow it? After all, they are children! Or do you stop it? After all, it is bedtime! Children can be so confusing.
In this episode we talk about a few reasons for this behavior and a 3 things you can do to handle it. I hope this blesses you and your kiddos!!
Love,
Dinalynn

Welcome to this episode of The Language of Play!
Any of us that have more than one child, know children come very different from one another! We need to learn how to meet the different needs and learning styles in order to be effective with them. My dear friend, Lois, joined me today for a conversation about raising her children. Her boy's brains are cut from different molds, and they respond differently from each other to the same things. What started as confusing became a delight later on when she and her husband understood their kids learning styles better. Listen in for ideas how to meet your kids where they are at.
Playfully speaking,
Dinalynn

Hello Parents!
If you have ever wanted to find a flexible schedule to work your job from home? If so, have you stopped because you don't know how to do it with elementary-age children at home? Listen in to hear what worked for Wendy Cocke.
Wendy Cocke, Author of the #1 bestselling book, “Making Flex Work: Defining Success on Your Own Terms” is the founder of Engineering Leadership solutions and a working mother of two. Prior to starting her business, Wendy spent over 20 years as an engineer in Fortune 500 companies leading global teams. When her oldest child, who is now in middle school, was just an infant, Wendy struggled to find balance. She felt like she was failing at home and at work, so she took matters into her own hands. After 11 months, she was able to convince her company to let her go part time, something that had never been done at the leadership level before. Wendy was told that her career would “stall,” that she was “walking away from everything she had built,” and that “she would never get promoted again,” but she didn’t believe them! She knew there had to be a way to find the balance she and her family desperately needed. Today, through lived experience and intentional language, Wendy’s children understand that work is something people do to provide for the lifestyle they enjoy, and they work together as a family to seamlessly transition between work and play.
I know you will LOVE this episode! Enjoy and be INSPIRED! In Gratitude,
Dinalynn

I see you, Parents ~
We ALL have our times as parents that we wish to crawl under a rock and hide! We know it. We ALL ALSO have those moments where WE ARE ROCKSTARS! We know those moments, too! We feel proud of our moments. And, when others share their stories, we learn other ways of handling situations. We gain different perspectives. We become more creative when we hear how someone else did "the thing!"
Creative communication remembers not only what we hear, but also how to apply it to what our child sees, hears, how they move, and experience life. Whatever isn’t working, is there a different way to teach it?
Join me today for the first EVERYDAY PARENT EPISODE, where we share stories of what we have done to connect with our kids in ways that WORKED! Our minds open when we hear someone’s story! I KNOW YOU have HUNDREDS of great stories! Everyday parent episodes focus on a story to share that encourages others, even when outcomes are not be the idea you expect, such as in today's story. Join ME, as I begin Everyday Parent episodes with a story from me.
I have learned so much from the stories of others. Your story is a gift you can give. I believe when we give our stories, we give ideas to others; we empower other parents!
Are you willing to share a story of connection or communication with your kids? If so, please connect with me at hello@thelanguageofplay.com!
In Gratitude,
Dinalynn
