The Language of Play - Kids that Listen, Speech Therapy, Language Development, Early Intervention

*** A Top 1.5% Podcast! *** Getting Kids to Listen, Speech Therapy, IEP, Communication with Kids, Parent Mentor, Family Connection Are you tired of repeating yourself with your children or wonder why they don’t listen? Are you afraid you are doing the wrong thing to help your kids communicate, but you are unsure what to do? Are you frustrated that your kids argue, whine or debate with you? Hey parents, you don’t need to stay overwhelmed, exhausted, and triggered by the fuss. In this podcast, you will find solutions to … get kids to listen better, build strong communication - even in the presence of a speech delay, and have boundaries that benefit kids. All while enhancing your relationships! My mission is to help puzzled, busy, worried parents read their child’s behavior as communication. When we understand what they are communicating, WE start to communicate differently! This is true of children with typical development, children in dual language homes, and children with delays. When Your Language allows for discovery, creativity, curiosity and exploration, connection is born. Connected kids are courageous and listen better. Connected kids have fewer meltdowns. Listen in to learn empowering strategies for teaching and listening! Hello, my name is Dinalynn Rosenbush, mom, grandma, Speech Language Pathologist of over 30 years. I’ve worked with hundreds of children with speech & language delays and navigated single parenthood. Through training and my own struggles, I learned to use specific language in specific ways that build connection. Our communication is not only our words, but it is the feeling our children have when we speak with them. Let’s create a home where exploration is welcomed, mistakes are stepping stones, and practice is expected. When kids believe you are on their team, eventually, they join your team! Because, what works for speech and language disabled children, simply works! I believe all parents should have access to these skills, not just specialists. It is my hope to give small nuggets of information in each episode to build your communication toolbox. So, if you are ready to build deep, meaningful connection AND create a more peaceful, productive and happy home. Listen in! Let’s interrupt the way you have been parenting. so that you CAN BECOME THE PARENT you WANT to be. I am glad you are here! I see you, Parents ~
We ALL have our times as parents that we wish to crawl under a rock and hide!  We know it.  We ALL ALSO have those moments where WE ARE ROCKSTARS!  We know those moments, too!  We feel proud of our moments. And, when others share their stories, we learn other ways of handling situations. We gain different perspectives.  We become more creative when we hear how someone else did "the thing!"
Creative communication remembers not only what we hear, but also how to apply it to what our child sees, hears, how they move, and experience life.  Whatever isn’t working, is there a different way to teach it?
Join me today for the first EVERYDAY PARENT EPISODE, where we share stories of what we have done to connect with our kids in ways that WORKED!  Our minds open when we hear someone’s story!   I KNOW YOU have HUNDREDS of great stories!  Everyday parent episodes focus on a story to share that encourages others, even when outcomes are not be the idea you expect, such as in today's story.  Join ME, as I begin Everyday Parent episodes with a story from me.
I have learned so much from the stories of others. Your story is a gift you can give.  I believe when we give our stories, we give ideas to others; we empower other parents!
Are you willing to share a story of connection or communication with your kids?  If so, please connect with me at hello@thelanguageofplay.com!
In Gratitude,
Dinalynn

Even if you do not have a tiny littles at home, you’ll find this episode  shows yet again, HOW language is developed!  This time with a focus on the early language; the first words.   Please share this episode with anyone you know that is working on, what Speech Therapists call:  "beginning communication" or "Early Language Development."

Hello Parents~
How language is learned is really AMAZING and really FUN to watch as they begin to say words clumsily, and then later with more precision. We cheer we celebrate as “Cute” words “almost words” become clearer.  Then it seems in a blink, the kids seem to know lots of words AND they string those words into sentences and tell us stories!
If you are curious how that happens, or you want to help your child express their thoughts feelings and ideas better - join today to learn 3 strategies to do just that!

Always Cheering you on,
Dinalynn

Hey Parents~
Have you ever wondered how language is learned?  Have you wondered how we actually teach language and how the brain works? In today’s episode we are going to talk about language learning through the lens of a book and a One-year-old. It’s still pertinent to you if you are older, because the language learning process happens basically the same.  Just at a more complex level. Sit back and relax. Imagine with me as you enjoy today’s learning.
With gratitude and hope,
Dinalynn

Dear Parents~
Does your child have an IEP – an individual education Plan, but you don’t know what that really means?  Maybe your child receives speech therapy because they do not speak or understand well.   There are ways to become comfortable with the vast amount of information.  There are ways to stand up for yourself and your child, and … spoiler… your school wants your participation!  And we all want your child to grow, learn and communicate well.
Today's episode will give YOU strategies to communicate better for yourself and your child and give you a way to build a connection that will make you more comfortable in those difficult meetings.
Be encouraged, parents!
