Listen in to learn empowering strategies for teaching and listening! Hello, my name is Dinalynn Rosenbush, mom, grandma, Speech Language Pathologist of over 30 years. I’ve worked with hundreds of children with speech & language delays and navigated single parenthood. Through training and my own struggles, I learned to use specific language in specific ways that build connection. Our communication is not only our words, but it is the feeling our children have when we speak with them. Let’s create a home where exploration is welcomed, mistakes are stepping stones, and practice is expected. When kids believe you are on their team, eventually, they join your team! Because, what works for speech and language disabled children, simply works! I believe all parents should have access to these skills, not just specialists. All of us parents have experienced the fall out after attending some sort of party or event - and afterwards our children have a hard time settling in at home. there’s an adjustment. AND THERE IS WHINING!
Learning to read between the lines of your child’s behavior, such as looking at WHAT they’re playing, and HOW they’re playing, can give you an indication into what They’re thinking about or feeling in their bodies. Learning to see it is key.
Then you can talk about what they are thinking about, you can steer them.
Today you will have a strategy for helping your child regulate and communicate how they feel - which will, with practice, lessen whining!

It’s officially summer break for many kids as schools have let out
Even when you are happy and excited about the change of schedule, there’s ALWAYS a transition time into summer. Whether you are someone that gets to stay home with your children or if you are someone that brings your children to daycare full-time while you continue to work full-time, or you’re in the middle.
There’s always a transition.
Today’s episode is about the summer slump - which might arrive in an hour or a week. It may be at periods of time throughout the day. Let’s recognize it, give it a name, and show our kids a good way to handle it.

A dad asked me about his 1 year old, who is not saying words. After observing his interaction with his family through mini videos he shared, I was able to show him how to tweak what he was already doing really well. That little tweak helped the dad focus on what his child was saying through behavior.

ained to SEE the opportunity for language expansion, he missed it.
